Hit and Run in Basista, Pangasinan

A vehicular incident happened along Barangay Obong, Basista, Pangasinan on June 18, 2017 wherein a minor, driving a red Rusi motorcycle, was left lifeless after being hit by an owner type jeep who eventually fled.

The 16-year old victim was then travelling heading eastbound when he accidentally hit an astray dog who abruptly crossed the street causing him to lose control on the steering handle of his motorcycle. A fast approaching owner type jeep coming from an opposite direction came and hit the victim, and immediately fled to unknown direction leaving the minor in a helpless state.

Due to the physical injuries incurred by the victim, he was pronounced dead on arrival. PNP elements of Basista conducted a hot pursuit operation for the possible apprehension of the fleeing suspect. They also seek nearby assistance for a dragnet operation and a verification request addressed to Land Transportation Office since a concern citizen was able to identify the suspect's plate number.
