Binmalenian: Optimistic over kidney failure
41-year old Marife Soriano Fricado, teacher and resident of Barangay Dulag, Binmaley, Pangasinan was diagnosed from kidney failure due to hypertensive on February 2014. She is having her monthly Hemodialysis checkup and treatment at Mayor Julian Valerio Resuello Dialysis Center in San Carlos City, Pangasinan to survive.
Dearmi Gomez, a hemodialysis nurse, explained what hemodialysis is all about: “Hemodialysis is a process that uses a man-made membrane (dialyzer) to remove wastes, restore the proper balance of electrolytes in the blood, and eliminate extra fluid from the body. The blood that circulates outside the patient’s body goes through a machine with special filters and blood comes out of the patient through a flexible tube known as a catheter and the tube is inserted into the vein. This kind of serious health issue may be hereditary or acquired through individual’s way of living,” he ended.
Fricado, despite the pain, has viewed her condition with optimism.
“Always remember that whatever happens or whatever comes along your way there is a good reason of God. For me, God gave me this kind of illness to take me closer to him and let me see his gracious deeds. The love and support of your family, prayers,self-motivations, and self-discipline are the keys to overcome every pain,” she quoted.
