Volunteers teach Filipino sign language in Pangasinan
Not more than 30 volunteer professors from different private schools of La Salle in Metro Manila volunteered for a four-day workshop in Dagupan City.
Before, teachers and students need to travel to Manila to learn Filipino sign language but through the said volunteers they brought lectures and trainings for teachers and parents to help them address the needs of deaf students in Dagupan City.
Leadership and Involvement Program coordinator Ma. Fe Andrea Faustino of SDEAS Center for Deaf Esteem and Formation said: “The participants were very happy that for the first time they had a deaf awareness workshop. They learned the importance of sign language, even if they had no relations to those who are deaf."
