Dasol eyes salt importation

Rock salt supply is sufficient in the Philippines but since not all products are using rock salt, salt importation is constructing its place in the industry.

Dasol salt farmers said that they worry about the salt importation. Salt importation will give a big impact in the industry.

According to Dasol Salt Maker Association (DSMA), they are monitoring the prices of imported salts.

Because of the imported salts, farmers need to sell their supply to their buyer in a very low price for them to gain a small profit from it, said Freda Briz, Municipal Agriculturist.

Dasol salt industry is supplying the Regions I, II,III, as well as the Provinces of Quezon and Pangasinan.

During harvest season, there are 200,000 sacks of salt accumulated. They sell it for P90 per sack.
