Two male kids died from Japanese Encephalitis two weeks ago.

According to Dr. Rene Bagamasdad, Laguna health officer, the Japanese Encephalitis (JE) is a disease caused by mosquito bites.

The symptoms usually take 5-15 days to develop and it includes fever, headache, vomiting, confusion, and difficulty moving. Symptoms that develop later include swelling around the brain and coma. JE is a serious disease that may cause death.

“The regional office started monitoring the signs and symptoms of possible Japanese Encephalitis incidence in other parts of Laguna,” Bagamasbad said.
